Narrative:
In cruise flight we experienced smoke in the cockpit. We did an emergency descent into a nearby class D airport. We had no radios due to the fact that we had to kill aircraft power to get the smoke to stop. We called center via a cell phone and asked them to alert the airport tower that we were going to be entering and landing in class delta without two-way communication. We landed and exited the runway safely.
Original NASA ASRS Text
