Engine died on short final. 12 gallons of fuel on board. 4 gallons in left tank. 8 gallons in right tank. Fuel selector was on left tank. Engine died as power was added.landed on grass just short of runway. No damage to aircraft. Soft grass landing. No injuries. Plane returned to service by mechanic.
