Clearance received to 'descend to FL310, then cross 35 southeast of ilm at FL270.' passing FL355, controller called 'air carrier X large transport, immediate 90 degree right turn!' air carrier Y medium large transport received same instructions. Passed within 3-4 mi of each other, same altitude.
