Narrative:

#1 for takeoff while taxiing from 27R over to 27L, I thought I heard phl tower clear us for takeoff. The copilot, who did not hear the clearance, then asked me to verify. I said I heard we were cleared for takeoff, which the copilot responded to the tower, 'company dg, cleared to go.' (it turned out we had accepted a takeoff clearance for an aircraft departing runway 27R.) we taxied onto the runway and began our takeoff when phl tower advised us to 'cancel takeoff off clearance.' we had only gone a couple hundred ft when we stopped. Phl tower then told us we were clear for takeoff. We told him we wished to do a 180 degree turn to take advantage of a full runway, which he approved. Our rush for departure and my not verifying our takeoff clearance when the copilot asked me contributed to this incident. In addition, the aircraft departing runway 27R was given a left turnout to 255 degree heading, which is not normal from that runway. Footnote: after phoning the tower later that day, I was told they had listened to the tapes and they had received no radio replies from us until we had cancelled our takeoff. Apparently our radio reply, 'company dg cleared to go,' was made on company frequency. Supplemental information from acn 126649: I was busy getting weight and balance data and performing the before takeoff checklist, so the captain switched radios form ground to tower. I responded to tower, 'company dg, cleared to.' no response from tower.

Title: ACR MLG TOOK TKOF CLRNC DIRECTED TO COMMUTER LTT ON PARALLEL RWY. TWR SAW THE ERROR AND TOLD THE ACR TO ABORT.

Narrative: #1 FOR TKOF WHILE TAXIING FROM 27R OVER TO 27L, I THOUGHT I HEARD PHL TWR CLR US FOR TKOF. THE COPLT, WHO DID NOT HEAR THE CLRNC, THEN ASKED ME TO VERIFY. I SAID I HEARD WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF, WHICH THE COPLT RESPONDED TO THE TWR, 'COMPANY DG, CLRED TO GO.' (IT TURNED OUT WE HAD ACCEPTED A TKOF CLRNC FOR AN ACFT DEPARTING RWY 27R.) WE TAXIED ONTO THE RWY AND BEGAN OUR TKOF WHEN PHL TWR ADVISED US TO 'CANCEL TKOF OFF CLRNC.' WE HAD ONLY GONE A COUPLE HUNDRED FT WHEN WE STOPPED. PHL TWR THEN TOLD US WE WERE CLR FOR TKOF. WE TOLD HIM WE WISHED TO DO A 180 DEG TURN TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A FULL RWY, WHICH HE APPROVED. OUR RUSH FOR DEP AND MY NOT VERIFYING OUR TKOF CLRNC WHEN THE COPLT ASKED ME CONTRIBUTED TO THIS INCIDENT. IN ADDITION, THE ACFT DEPARTING RWY 27R WAS GIVEN A LEFT TURNOUT TO 255 DEG HDG, WHICH IS NOT NORMAL FROM THAT RWY. FOOTNOTE: AFTER PHONING THE TWR LATER THAT DAY, I WAS TOLD THEY HAD LISTENED TO THE TAPES AND THEY HAD RECEIVED NO RADIO REPLIES FROM US UNTIL WE HAD CANCELLED OUR TKOF. APPARENTLY OUR RADIO REPLY, 'COMPANY DG CLRED TO GO,' WAS MADE ON COMPANY FREQ. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 126649: I WAS BUSY GETTING WT AND BAL DATA AND PERFORMING THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST, SO THE CAPT SWITCHED RADIOS FORM GND TO TWR. I RESPONDED TO TWR, 'COMPANY DG, CLRED TO.' NO RESPONSE FROM TWR.
