Narrative:
After 90 KIAS on takeoff roll 6 deer were seen running from left to right across our path. Vr/reference was 108 KIAS. Rotated to go up and over the deer, using ground effect. Struck #2 deer with the cargo pod. Landed aircraft and aborted the takeoff. There was never any intention to continue the takeoff, only a question of exactly when to abort. Prevention: rdm is now an active airport. It rates a deer fence. More runway patrols by ground personnel before takeoffs.

STRUCK #2 DEER WITH THE CARGO POD. LANDED ACFT AND ABORTED THE TKOF. THERE WAS NEVER ANY INTENTION TO CONTINUE THE TKOF, ONLY A QUESTION OF EXACTLY WHEN TO ABORT. PREVENTION: RDM IS NOW AN ACTIVE ARPT. IT RATES A DEER FENCE. MORE RWY PATROLS BY GND PERSONNEL BEFORE TKOFS.
