Narrative:
At cruise altitude of 16;000; first officer (first officer) noticed what looked like strobe light flashes out the front right side. Closer inspection produced direct laser hits momentarily. Laser kept illuminating aircraft for nearly 2 minutes while first officer used [tablet] to shield laser source. Captain did not see direct illumination but saw indirect flashing in cockpit. ATC notified and called after landing when proper map could be consulted for most accurate location. Source appeared to be in vicinity of southwest side of springfield; ma.
