Narrative:
Descending thru 10;000 ft MSL we encountered wake turbulence resulting in a 10 degree left bank. The pilot flying (PF) disconnected the autopilot and returned the aircraft to its original position. The rate of roll seemed somewhat abrupt. We shallowed our descent rate after in order to stay above the B717's flight path. In response to my query ATC advised we were 8 miles in trail of a B717. The flight continued uninterrupted and we did not encounter further wake.
