Narrative:
Cleared to heading, altitude and 'for approach' by ont approach control. We heard 3200' and read back same. After landing tower told us altitude was supposed to be 4200'. Told tower we heard and read back 3200'. Tower said he would relay message back to approach control.

Title: ON APCH TO ONT FLT CREW OF LGT DESCENDED TO 3200 MSL. AFTER LNDG WERE ADVISED THROUGH TWR THAT APCH CTLR HAD WANTED THEM AT 4200.
Narrative: CLRED TO HDG, ALT AND 'FOR APCH' BY ONT APCH CTL. WE HEARD 3200' AND READ BACK SAME. AFTER LNDG TWR TOLD US ALT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 4200'. TOLD TWR WE HEARD AND READ BACK 3200'. TWR SAID HE WOULD RELAY MESSAGE BACK TO APCH CTL.
