Narrative:
Flying single pilot in a velocity standard rg at 8;000 feet MSL. I experienced a sudden violent airframe vibration caused by a propeller blade failure. A state highway was to my left and was vacant of any traffic; I secured the engine and made an approach and uneventful landing on the highway exiting under control onto a dirt road. No injuries were sustained. County sheriff arrived on scene to assist but none was needed. NTSB was notified as required.
