Narrative:
During departure and climb out from vandenburg AFB, ca, ZLA cleared us from 26000' to 27000' and requested we call ZOA. We left 26000' for 27000' and channelized ZOA. Before we got a chance to make our initial contact, ZOA called us and said 'descend now to 26000'.' at 26500' during climb, I immediately began descent to 26000'. I saw an aircraft pass us above (about 27000') and slightly--possible handoff altitude mix-up between centers.
