Narrative:
While on ILS inbound the left engine failed to respond to throttle inputs by the flying pilot.we observed the following readings for the left engine over the next minute or so - *N1 - 22%*egt - 723 degrees C*N2 - approximately 71-72%we decided to shut down the left engine to prevent further damage to the engine; even though the engine did not exceed any limitations. We were established on the localizer and GS in VFR conditions (last reported ATIS was light winds; 34 degrees C OAT; and qnh 1013). Because of the good weather; and since we were established on the ILS; [we felt there was no] emergency. Subsequent landing and taxi to parking area were uneventful.
