Narrative:

The det approach controller was using only #'south to control traffic. No company names were heard. When asked to use company names, the controller became very irritable. His actions included issuing descent clrncs we could not possibly comply with, 180 degree heading changes, remarks like: '...hope you guys like going in circles,' ignoring calls, etc. It was not a good day in detroit. The controller was obviously not a student of ATP 7110.65, nor a reader of captain monan's 'addressee errors in ATC communications: the call sign problem.'
