Narrative:

At the dayton int'l airport ramp agents routinely by-pass security screening (metal detection). They are permitted access through the baggage claim area directly into a secure area never passing the security screening in the main concourse. Security police and airline management condone this action. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: ground employees that work the baggage area and the ramp area must wear steel toed shoes that trigger off the metal detector alarm. Reportedly for this reason, they are allowed to proceed from the employee parking lot directly to their work area without passing through the security check. They have access to aircraft without being scrutinized or checked by security. Apparently the airline has an agreement with airport security to allow this. Pilots and all flight crew members must go through security because we do not have the badges that allow us in the baggage area etc.

Narrative: AT THE DAYTON INT'L ARPT RAMP AGENTS ROUTINELY BY-PASS SECURITY SCREENING (METAL DETECTION). CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH REPORTER REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: GND EMPLOYEES THAT WORK THE BAGGAGE AREA AND THE RAMP AREA MUST WEAR STEEL TOED SHOES THAT TRIGGER OFF THE METAL DETECTOR ALARM. REPORTEDLY FOR THIS REASON, THEY ARE ALLOWED TO PROCEED FROM THE EMPLOYEE PARKING LOT DIRECTLY TO THEIR WORK AREA WITHOUT PASSING THROUGH THE SECURITY CHECK. THEY HAVE ACCESS TO ACFT WITHOUT BEING SCRUTINIZED OR CHECKED BY SECURITY. APPARENTLY THE AIRLINE HAS AN AGREEMENT WITH ARPT SECURITY TO ALLOW THIS. PLTS AND ALL FLT CREW MEMBERS MUST GO THROUGH SECURITY BECAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE THE BADGES THAT ALLOW US IN THE BAGGAGE AREA ETC.
