Narrative:
I was flying to an airport where I would be picked up by family. Since the family home was along my course to the airport. I advised that I would fly over and that would signal them to come pick me up. When I was about 1 mi away from the house, I decreased power and descended. When over the house and banked the aircraft about 30 degrees and applied aft cyclic to initiate a climbing turn and to produce 'blade slap.' I immediately realized that although I wasn't violating any flight rules, I was making unnecessary noise. My family was expecting me and an overflt at an 1000' AGL would probably be signal enough. It reminded me clearly of the 'fly neighborly' slogan. I landed west/O incident and secured the aircraft, feeling a twinge of guilt for the noise.

Narrative: I WAS FLYING TO AN ARPT WHERE I WOULD BE PICKED UP BY FAMILY. SINCE THE FAMILY HOME WAS ALONG MY COURSE TO THE ARPT. I ADVISED THAT I WOULD FLY OVER AND THAT WOULD SIGNAL THEM TO COME PICK ME UP. WHEN I WAS ABOUT 1 MI AWAY FROM THE HOUSE, I DECREASED PWR AND DSNDED. WHEN OVER THE HOUSE AND BANKED THE ACFT ABOUT 30 DEGS AND APPLIED AFT CYCLIC TO INITIATE A CLBING TURN AND TO PRODUCE 'BLADE SLAP.' I IMMEDIATELY REALIZED THAT ALTHOUGH I WASN'T VIOLATING ANY FLT RULES, I WAS MAKING UNNECESSARY NOISE. MY FAMILY WAS EXPECTING ME AND AN OVERFLT AT AN 1000' AGL WOULD PROBABLY BE SIGNAL ENOUGH. IT REMINDED ME CLEARLY OF THE 'FLY NEIGHBORLY' SLOGAN. I LANDED W/O INCIDENT AND SECURED THE ACFT, FEELING A TWINGE OF GUILT FOR THE NOISE.
