Narrative:
Shortly after main gear touchdown; nose gear touchdown was made where upon the nose gear leg broke and departed airplane. Touchdown on both mains and nose was normal. Aircraft slid on its nose to a stop on the runway. Engine shutdown and pilot and passenger exited airplane. No injuries. Local people on airport arrived within 5 minutes and assisted pilot with towing airplane to parking area on ramp. Nose tire; fork; and partial leg were intact and retrieved from runway approximately 500 feet from where the airplane stopped.
