Narrative:
Following departure from sanford on an instrument training flight, we contacted orlando approach. We were instructed to climb to 3000', and upon reaching 1500', fly direct to kizer intersection. We advised approach of our intention to hold at kizer. We were in solid IMC, and my student was having difficulty maintaining control. During his turn to kizer, he became disoriented and turned too steeply and too far. After regaining coordinated flight, I requested a vector to kizer intersection in order to rectify the situation as quickly as possible. Approach gave us a new squawk code, and informed us that we were in radar contact southwest of sanford. Approach asked why we were southwest when we should have been northwest. I told them we had been turning toward V267 kizer. Approach then gave us a vector to intercept V267, which would take us to kizer. We intercepted 2 mi north of paola intersection. One of our navigation radios malfunctioned and was unable to receive ormond beach VOR or orlando VOR. I informed approach of this problem, and requested a vector for an ILS runway 9 to a full stop at sanford, where we terminated the flight.

Title: INS STUDENT PLT BECOMES DISORIENTED AFTER TKOF IN REAL IMC REQUIRING ASSISTANCE FROM BOTHRIGHT SEAT INSTRUCTOR AND ATC TO STABILIZE SITUATION AND RESTORE ACFT CONTROL.
Narrative: FOLLOWING DEP FROM SANFORD ON AN INSTRUMENT TRNING FLT, WE CONTACTED ORLANDO APCH. WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO CLB TO 3000', AND UPON REACHING 1500', FLY DIRECT TO KIZER INTXN. WE ADVISED APCH OF OUR INTENTION TO HOLD AT KIZER. WE WERE IN SOLID IMC, AND MY STUDENT WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY MAINTAINING CONTROL. DURING HIS TURN TO KIZER, HE BECAME DISORIENTED AND TURNED TOO STEEPLY AND TOO FAR. AFTER REGAINING COORDINATED FLT, I REQUESTED A VECTOR TO KIZER INTXN IN ORDER TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. APCH GAVE US A NEW SQUAWK CODE, AND INFORMED US THAT WE WERE IN RADAR CONTACT SW OF SANFORD. APCH ASKED WHY WE WERE SW WHEN WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NW. I TOLD THEM WE HAD BEEN TURNING TOWARD V267 KIZER. APCH THEN GAVE US A VECTOR TO INTERCEPT V267, WHICH WOULD TAKE US TO KIZER. WE INTERCEPTED 2 MI N OF PAOLA INTXN. ONE OF OUR NAV RADIOS MALFUNCTIONED AND WAS UNABLE TO RECEIVE ORMOND BEACH VOR OR ORLANDO VOR. I INFORMED APCH OF THIS PROB, AND REQUESTED A VECTOR FOR AN ILS RWY 9 TO A FULL STOP AT SANFORD, WHERE WE TERMINATED THE FLT.
