Narrative:

As we taxied toward gate xx at mco, we observed a truck parked on the left side of our approach to the gate. It looked like the truck would be very close to our left wing tip as we entered the gate area. We stopped. A wing-walker came out to walk the wing along with a taxi guide man who gave us a 'come ahead' into the gate area. With the wing-walker giving us a thumbs up, we hit the truck with our left wing tip. We damaged the wing light and the cap on the end of the wing. The taxi guide people were not our company ground service people, but contract personnel. I do not believe they had enough training in the movement of aircraft. The next time we (I) approach a tight area, I will insist on company people or not move the aircraft.
