Narrative:

I was the captain of an medium large transport scheduled to fly from cmh to atl. The marshaller instructed me that I was to taxi out of the gate with a right turn-out. The jetway was pulled away from the aircraft and positioned approximately 20' to the left. After receiving taxi clearance, I followed the marshallers signal to move forward and turn right. I completed a smooth, full right turn and shortly thereafter my left wing struck the jetway. The marshaller never signalled for the aircraft to stop. Further investigation revealed that the left wingman attempted to signal to stop the aircraft. The operator of the jetway rotated the jetway cabin attendant into the path of the wing tip after I began my taxi. There wa snow on the lamp, but it was not a factor in the aircraft's performance. This was a case of 2 individuals--the jetway operator and marshaller, who due to a labor action. Were given responsibilities that they were not qualified to fulfill. The jetway should not have been moved and should have probably been placed further away from the aircraft. The marshaller should have recognized the potential problem and not signalled for the aircraft to pull forward. He should have also been aware of his wingman's signal.

Title: ACR MLG LEFT WING HIT JETWAY WHILE TAXIING AWAY FROM TERMINAL UNDER DIRECTION OF CGP.

Narrative: I WAS THE CAPT OF AN MLG SCHEDULED TO FLY FROM CMH TO ATL. THE MARSHALLER INSTRUCTED ME THAT I WAS TO TAXI OUT OF THE GATE WITH A RIGHT TURN-OUT. THE JETWAY WAS PULLED AWAY FROM THE ACFT AND POSITIONED APPROX 20' TO THE LEFT. AFTER RECEIVING TAXI CLRNC, I FOLLOWED THE MARSHALLERS SIGNAL TO MOVE FORWARD AND TURN RIGHT. I COMPLETED A SMOOTH, FULL RIGHT TURN AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER MY LEFT WING STRUCK THE JETWAY. THE MARSHALLER NEVER SIGNALLED FOR THE ACFT TO STOP. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE LEFT WINGMAN ATTEMPTED TO SIGNAL TO STOP THE ACFT. THE OPERATOR OF THE JETWAY ROTATED THE JETWAY CAB INTO THE PATH OF THE WING TIP AFTER I BEGAN MY TAXI. THERE WA SNOW ON THE LAMP, BUT IT WAS NOT A FACTOR IN THE ACFT'S PERFORMANCE. THIS WAS A CASE OF 2 INDIVIDUALS--THE JETWAY OPERATOR AND MARSHALLER, WHO DUE TO A LABOR ACTION. WERE GIVEN RESPONSIBILITIES THAT THEY WERE NOT QUALIFIED TO FULFILL. THE JETWAY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN MOVED AND SHOULD HAVE PROBABLY BEEN PLACED FURTHER AWAY FROM THE ACFT. THE MARSHALLER SHOULD HAVE RECOGNIZED THE POTENTIAL PROB AND NOT SIGNALLED FOR THE ACFT TO PULL FORWARD. HE SHOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN AWARE OF HIS WINGMAN'S SIGNAL.
