Narrative:

Flying all night. ATIS at ord giving 9L for landing runway. Shot the approach to 9L twice thinking we were cleared for 9L approach each time when in fact we were apparently cleared approach to 9R. Finally understood the controller was clearing us for 9R. Approach and landing normal.
