Narrative:

At mdw ATIS was broadcasting using both 22L and right, but only 22L was being used for takeoff and landing. We received clearance to taxi to 22L (we thought). Upon arriving 22L and crossing 22R along the way, tower asked us if ground had issued 22L. We acknowledged yes. He challenged us about the runway and advised he thought it was 22R and told us we crossed an active runway west/O clearance. We received our takeoff instructions shortly after and nothing more was said about the crossing. Pilots may be should have paid attention to taxi instructions more closely if indeed we did get 22R and double checked upon crossing 22R with ground control. A simple fact of miscom.

Narrative: AT MDW ATIS WAS BROADCASTING USING BOTH 22L AND R, BUT ONLY 22L WAS BEING USED FOR TKOF AND LNDG. WE RECEIVED CLRNC TO TAXI TO 22L (WE THOUGHT). UPON ARRIVING 22L AND XING 22R ALONG THE WAY, TWR ASKED US IF GND HAD ISSUED 22L. WE ACKNOWLEDGED YES. HE CHALLENGED US ABOUT THE RWY AND ADVISED HE THOUGHT IT WAS 22R AND TOLD US WE CROSSED AN ACTIVE RWY W/O CLRNC.
