Narrative:

Cleared visibility approach runway 92 from 4000' abeam to the south. An air carrier medium large transport Y on 5-MI final 30L. Lost sight of 29 in the haze, and began to line up on 30L, directly in front of medium large transport Y. The local controller caught the goof, and asked me to confirm that I was indeed lining up on 29. I entered steep turn to the left to correct. Don't assume the runway you are looking at is the one you want. Notice stuff like precision markings even if you can't make out the #'south (30L has precision markings, 29 has basic markings only, and is very narrow relative to 30L and 30R).

Narrative: CLRED VIS APCH RWY 92 FROM 4000' ABEAM TO THE S. AN ACR MLG Y ON 5-MI FINAL 30L. LOST SIGHT OF 29 IN THE HAZE, AND BEGAN TO LINE UP ON 30L, DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF MLG Y. THE LCL CTLR CAUGHT THE GOOF, AND ASKED ME TO CONFIRM THAT I WAS INDEED LINING UP ON 29. I ENTERED STEEP TURN TO THE LEFT TO CORRECT. DON'T ASSUME THE RWY YOU ARE LOOKING AT IS THE ONE YOU WANT. NOTICE STUFF LIKE PRECISION MARKINGS EVEN IF YOU CAN'T MAKE OUT THE #'S (30L HAS PRECISION MARKINGS, 29 HAS BASIC MARKINGS ONLY, AND IS VERY NARROW RELATIVE TO 30L AND 30R).
