Narrative:

Ferry flight to atl after maintenance in ord for a blown left main tire. No passenger, no cargo. On approach to runway 8L in atl, landing weight 76000 pounds, placed landing gear lever down, right and nose landing gear down and locked (green lights), left main gear unsafe (no green light, red unsafe light on). Hydraulic pressures and qtys good. Left gear handle down, performed go around, entered holding at tempo intersection at 5000' MSL. Contacted dispatcher and maintenance controller. Maintenance felt problem was connected to blown tire incident in ord. Performed abnormal procedure for 'gear unsafe light illuminates gear handle down.' unable to get 3 green. First officer visually inspected landing gear down and locked. Informed approach control and company of visually checked gear down. Proceeded to atl for ILS 8L approach and made successful landing.
