Narrative:
During engine start, #2 engine would not start when using the right ignition. It started ok using the left ignitor. A message was sent to maintenance via radio. Due to concern about the hold overtime of the deicing fluid which had been sprayed on aircraft about 15 mins earlier, we departed west/O proper response from maintenance. I feel that my concern about the deicing fluid caused me to forget that I was waiting for a message via radio from maintenance. This did not affect the flight, but was a violation of our SOP.
