Narrative:
After having dropped off our passenger at the terminal, we started up and called ground control for permission to repos the aircraft for the flight the next morning. A company ramp person had previously direct my first officer to a building across the airport as the place where our plane was to be hangared for the night. Ground control ultimately cleared us to this place. On the way there we had crossed 2 parallel runways, both of which we believed were closed. When we got to the bldg (hangar) that we were told to go to, we discovered that it was not the right hangar and that the place we were supposed to be was on the other side of the 2 parallel runways. At that moment we knew that we had crossed 2 runways for which we were not cleared. Ground control did not see us cross, either. The problem could have been avoided by asking ground control for directions to the place we wanted to go to in the first place. Also, our airport diagram, which is contained in a nos tablet, does not include the names of the places on the airport diagram. I think it would help out tremendously if all airport diagrams included this type of information.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LTT FLT CREW TAXIING TO HANGAR CROSSES PARALLEL RWYS WITHOUT CLRNC. THE HANGAR THEY HAD BEEN CLEARED TO WAS NOT WHERE THEY THOUGHT IT WAS.
Narrative: AFTER HAVING DROPPED OFF OUR PAX AT THE TERMINAL, WE STARTED UP AND CALLED GND CTL FOR PERMISSION TO REPOS THE ACFT FOR THE FLT THE NEXT MORNING. A COMPANY RAMP PERSON HAD PREVIOUSLY DIRECT MY F/O TO A BUILDING ACROSS THE ARPT AS THE PLACE WHERE OUR PLANE WAS TO BE HANGARED FOR THE NIGHT. GND CTL ULTIMATELY CLRED US TO THIS PLACE. ON THE WAY THERE WE HAD CROSSED 2 PARALLEL RWYS, BOTH OF WHICH WE BELIEVED WERE CLOSED. WHEN WE GOT TO THE BLDG (HANGAR) THAT WE WERE TOLD TO GO TO, WE DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS NOT THE RIGHT HANGAR AND THAT THE PLACE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE 2 PARALLEL RWYS. AT THAT MOMENT WE KNEW THAT WE HAD CROSSED 2 RWYS FOR WHICH WE WERE NOT CLRED. GND CTL DID NOT SEE US CROSS, EITHER. THE PROB COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY ASKING GND CTL FOR DIRECTIONS TO THE PLACE WE WANTED TO GO TO IN THE FIRST PLACE. ALSO, OUR ARPT DIAGRAM, WHICH IS CONTAINED IN A NOS TABLET, DOES NOT INCLUDE THE NAMES OF THE PLACES ON THE ARPT DIAGRAM. I THINK IT WOULD HELP OUT TREMENDOUSLY IF ALL ARPT DIAGRAMS INCLUDED THIS TYPE OF INFO.
