After takeoff on the ECAM indicated a main deck cargo fire. Jumpseaters (after debrief) said there was a thick air conditioning (AC) pack smell. We stayed with tower [and] did a left traffic pattern for an overweight; visual approach. Fire trucks met us on the runway and told us they saw no hot spots. Taxied back to the gate.pack smoke/mist
