Narrative:

While approaching gate for parking with area clear (all equipment behind lines) and a guideman giving come forward hand signals and wing walker on right side of aircraft giving clear signal, aircraft was struck by a catering truck. Aircraft immediately stopped in spite of signals from guideman to continue forward motion for parking. After ensuring aircraft was not in jeopardy and area was clear, aircraft was advanced an addition 5' (approximately) to accommodate parking and deplaning. Catering truck was originally parked behind left wing of aircraft on adjacent gate, facing aircraft on the gate and appeared to be unmanned, as no lights were on and no activity noted. Lighted wands were used for parking. He was centered and parked on lead-in line. Contact was on aircraft right wing tip. Too much ramp congestion!
