Narrative:
I hadn't flown my retractable small aircraft for 5 weeks and had been flying my fixed gear small aircraft. The retractable had been put back in operation after a propeller governor and oil change. To check it out I took off and stayed in the pattern at sdl. On downwind and due to a faster aircraft behind me, I turned base for a short final. The tower had asked me to report status of VASI lights which had been out. Due to flying the fixed gear small aircraft and not the retractable recently and being in a hurry I neglected the usual gump check and didn't put down the gear. Landing was soft until the propeller struck and the plane slid to a stop. There was only bottom fuselage and propeller (possibly engine) damage. No wing or horizontal stabilizer damage. Prevention in future: don't be in a hurry and use checklist.

Title: PLT OF RETRACTABLE GEAR SMA HAS GEAR UP LNDG AS A RESULT OF PLT DISTR IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN, AND A LONG LAYOFF FROM FLYING RETRACTABLE GEAR ACFT DURING WHICH HE WAS FLYING FIXED GEAR ACFT.
Narrative: I HADN'T FLOWN MY RETRACTABLE SMA FOR 5 WKS AND HAD BEEN FLYING MY FIXED GEAR SMA. THE RETRACTABLE HAD BEEN PUT BACK IN OPERATION AFTER A PROP GOVERNOR AND OIL CHANGE. TO CHK IT OUT I TOOK OFF AND STAYED IN THE PATTERN AT SDL. ON DOWNWIND AND DUE TO A FASTER ACFT BEHIND ME, I TURNED BASE FOR A SHORT FINAL. THE TWR HAD ASKED ME TO RPT STATUS OF VASI LIGHTS WHICH HAD BEEN OUT. DUE TO FLYING THE FIXED GEAR SMA AND NOT THE RETRACTABLE RECENTLY AND BEING IN A HURRY I NEGLECTED THE USUAL GUMP CHK AND DIDN'T PUT DOWN THE GEAR. LNDG WAS SOFT UNTIL THE PROP STRUCK AND THE PLANE SLID TO A STOP. THERE WAS ONLY BOTTOM FUSELAGE AND PROP (POSSIBLY ENG) DAMAGE. NO WING OR HORIZ STABILIZER DAMAGE. PREVENTION IN FUTURE: DON'T BE IN A HURRY AND USE CHKLIST.
