Narrative:
Landed runway 24R lax. Turned left onto high speed taxiway #65. Rolling to a near stop between runways. Told by tower to expedite across 24L as traffic was '1 1/2 mi final' for 24L. I pushed throttles up to cross 24L at taxiway 65A. As the nose of our aircraft crossed the edge of 24L an medium large transport, aircraft Y, passed overhead at approximately 30' of altitude. At the angle of taxiway 65 to runway 24L I was unable to see up the runway. The point is, an abort by the medium large transport could have had us both at the same point on runway 24L. Also there was no mention of an aircraft rolling on 24L. I feel we shouldn't have been cleared across until the medium large transport was past our position.

Title: ACR PIC REPORTS A POTENTIAL ATC ERROR AS DEPARTING ACFT PASSES OVERHEAD ON HIS CROSSING RWY ON ATCT LCL CTLRS DIRECTIONS.
Narrative: LANDED RWY 24R LAX. TURNED L ONTO HIGH SPD TXWY #65. ROLLING TO A NEAR STOP BTWN RWYS. TOLD BY TWR TO EXPEDITE ACROSS 24L AS TFC WAS '1 1/2 MI FINAL' FOR 24L. I PUSHED THROTTLES UP TO CROSS 24L AT TXWY 65A. AS THE NOSE OF OUR ACFT CROSSED THE EDGE OF 24L AN MLG, ACFT Y, PASSED OVERHEAD AT APPROX 30' OF ALT. AT THE ANGLE OF TXWY 65 TO RWY 24L I WAS UNABLE TO SEE UP THE RWY. THE POINT IS, AN ABORT BY THE MLG COULD HAVE HAD US BOTH AT THE SAME POINT ON RWY 24L. ALSO THERE WAS NO MENTION OF AN ACFT ROLLING ON 24L. I FEEL WE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN CLRED ACROSS UNTIL THE MLG WAS PAST OUR POS.
