Narrative:

On departure from teb we were told by ny departure to fly a 040 degree heading from the 280 degree heading we were flying. I set a 340 degree heading in and was flying that. The controller asked us if we were going to fly the 040 degree heading and we turned to that heading. I asked if that heading mistake was going to be a problem and that controller said no problem. I should have asked about the heading after we were given it.

Title: AN HS125XP CREW DID NOT FOLLOW THE CTLR'S HDG DIRECTIONS DURING A TEB 5 DEP.

Narrative: ON DEP FROM TEB WE WERE TOLD BY NY DEP TO FLY A 040 DEG HDG FROM THE 280 DEG HDG WE WERE FLYING. I SET A 340 DEG HDG IN AND WAS FLYING THAT. THE CTLR ASKED US IF WE WERE GOING TO FLY THE 040 DEG HDG AND WE TURNED TO THAT HDG. I ASKED IF THAT HDG MISTAKE WAS GOING TO BE A PROB AND THAT CTLR SAID NO PROB. I SHOULD HAVE ASKED ABOUT THE HDG AFTER WE WERE GIVEN IT.
