Narrative:
Normal descent followed by routine approach to runway 12 into mia. Upon landing tower notified us that our tailcone had separated along with escape slide. Landing felt routine with exception of one of the thrust reversers failed to unlock and deploy. Routine taxi to gate, however APU was not started because of uncertainty surrounding tailcone. Also, F/a's were questioned if anything appeared out of the ordinary in tail area. It should be noted that aircraft tailcone was preflted on the exterior by first officer, and interior cone area was preflted by captain with nothing out of the ordinary observed. Callback conversation with reporter revealed following information. Both reporters interviewed via callback. Both reporters state that all normal preflight procedure were accomplished and all seemed normal. The in-flight and landing phase of flight also seemed routine. The aircraft had just been returned to service after major maintenance activity and both felt that this could have been contributory. Also the flight required last minute catering service that was done in a great hurry and both felt that it was possible that this activity may have inadvertently activated part or all of the emergency exit feature of this area. Both seem of the opinion that this has happened before at this and other acrs. Supplemental information from acn 136861. Note first officer preflight walk around exterior of aircraft tail normal captain preflight interior tail compartment. Found chute charge normal and emergency tailcone jettison handle normal.

Title: ACR MLG TAILCONE SEPARATES ON LNDG.
Narrative: NORMAL DSCNT FOLLOWED BY ROUTINE APCH TO RWY 12 INTO MIA. UPON LNDG TWR NOTIFIED US THAT OUR TAILCONE HAD SEPARATED ALONG WITH ESCAPE SLIDE. LNDG FELT ROUTINE WITH EXCEPTION OF ONE OF THE THRUST REVERSERS FAILED TO UNLOCK AND DEPLOY. ROUTINE TAXI TO GATE, HOWEVER APU WAS NOT STARTED BECAUSE OF UNCERTAINTY SURROUNDING TAILCONE. ALSO, F/A'S WERE QUESTIONED IF ANYTHING APPEARED OUT OF THE ORDINARY IN TAIL AREA. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT ACFT TAILCONE WAS PREFLTED ON THE EXTERIOR BY F/O, AND INTERIOR CONE AREA WAS PREFLTED BY CAPT WITH NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY OBSERVED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED FOLLOWING INFO. BOTH REPORTERS INTERVIEWED VIA CALLBACK. BOTH REPORTERS STATE THAT ALL NORMAL PREFLT PROC WERE ACCOMPLISHED AND ALL SEEMED NORMAL. THE INFLT AND LNDG PHASE OF FLT ALSO SEEMED ROUTINE. THE ACFT HAD JUST BEEN RETURNED TO SVC AFTER MAJOR MAINT ACTIVITY AND BOTH FELT THAT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CONTRIBUTORY. ALSO THE FLT REQUIRED LAST MINUTE CATERING SVC THAT WAS DONE IN A GREAT HURRY AND BOTH FELT THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT THIS ACTIVITY MAY HAVE INADVERTENTLY ACTIVATED PART OR ALL OF THE EMER EXIT FEATURE OF THIS AREA. BOTH SEEM OF THE OPINION THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AT THIS AND OTHER ACRS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 136861. NOTE F/O PREFLT WALK AROUND EXTERIOR OF ACFT TAIL NORMAL CAPT PREFLT INTERIOR TAIL COMPARTMENT. FOUND CHUTE CHARGE NORMAL AND EMER TAILCONE JETTISON HANDLE NORMAL.
