Narrative:
I preflted my 19XX small aircraft X on a cold, frosty morning. I found that it was hard starting but after warming up I left cyw. The flight was uneventful until over 1/2 way I realized that I hadn't heard center checking the ammeter. I found that I was not getting any charge. I've had electrical problems twice before. I shut down the unnecessary radios and proceeded on course calling center. I told them I was losing my electrical system, I did hear one command to descend from 7000 to 5000. After descending I did not know if I was being received or not. I heard nothing more on my radio. I located mkc and lowered my gear, so I thought. The lights were not working enough to see gear or flaps up or down in the bright sunlight so I looked down on the floor and leaned way over, it appeared to me that the mechanical pointer on the floor had moved. I even got my hand down, felt it hard enough to push the plastic lens off and it still felt ok. Now satisfied that the gear was down I lowered the flaps and watched them go down very slowly. Since I know that it ordinarily takes more juice to lower the flaps than the gear I thought for certain that I was ok. The tower gave me 2 red lights and I circled both times. Then on the 3RD time they gave me a green as I was right over the numbers. I landed softly but with scraping. When I talked to the tower they said they were afraid I was out of gas. I landed because I thought everything was ok.
