Narrative:

Ca was pilot flying. Was at 4000 feet. We were being vectored and given a heading and a descent to 3000 feet. ATC advised us that there [was] VFR traffic in the area. We had no visual but picked them up on TCAS. Stopped our descent around 3800 feet as we noticed we were getting close to the VFR aircraft. VFR aircraft continued his climb into us causing us to get an RA. We complied with TCAS climb instructions and informed ATC. Once we were clear of the conflict we descended and joined the localizer. Continued the approach and landed.we could have been vectored out further before being vectored toward the localizer. VFR aircraft should have been more diligent in their climb towards us.
