Narrative:
We were in our climb out of teb and just after breaking out of the tops we leveled at 8000 MSL (250kts) as instructed by ATC. A few seconds later we got an RA for same altitude traffic. We followed the TCAS guidance leveling off at 7500 MSL as the controller said: 'you've got opposite direction single engine VFR traffic at 8000; I'm not talking to him.' we reported the RA; returning to 8000 and he issued a climb to 13;000 with a frequency change to boston center.
