Narrative:
During preflight, an FAA inspector came up to me, and told me that my plane had a loose left exhaust pipe. I checked it and it was moveable. I tried to get in touch with a mechanic, but no luck. I inspected the exhaust system myself, removed the engine cowling, and found only that a tightening band was a little loose, but under no circumstances could the exhaust come off. I left denver to pueblo and got the exhaust fixed there.
