Narrative:
Upon landing in kahului, maui, the tower controller reported smoke from our right brake on rollout. Controller requested if we wanted the emergency equipment. Captain requested equipment to follow us in. Upon taxiing to the ramp captain asked tower if brake was still smoking, tower replied negative. Captain told tower to secure emergency equipment. Tower replied emergency equipment on their way out. After block in at the ramp, crew realized that the tower mistook 'secure emergency equipment' as a declared emergency. No emergency was declared, however. Upon further inspection, the smoke from the brake was found to be caused by the first application of a new brake assembly. Supplemental information from acn 138285. I said 'ok secure emergency.' he may have thought I said 'declare emergency.'
