Narrative:
When on vectors for the localizer intercept at 3;700 for the ILS 25 at lawrenceville a near collision occurred. This C172M was equipped with a garmin GNS 430 with traffic capability as well as an ipad with foreflight mobile & a stratus 2S capable of depicting traffic. I noticed there was a target in trail within 5 NM off our 4-5 o'clock but depicted an altitude of at least 1;000 feet above so the traffic was not reported to us by ATC. As we were approaching the localizer intercept at 3;700 the target appeared to be traveling towards us & descending. It was at that time ATC reported the traffic to us which we did not have sight of because they were in our blind spot. When the target was approaching within 500 of our altitude I instructed my student whom was under the hood for simulated instrument to lift the wing to spot the aircraft & at that time we saw the shadow of the aircraft through the front window flying over us less than 500 from our altitude. I estimated the altitude to be approximately 300 feet from us. The aircraft was so close we could hear the turbine engine & just about read the tail number. Shortly after passing over us & descending no more than a 1/4 [mile] in front of us [he] passed from left to right across our flight path. The aircraft was clearly operating dangerously with no regard for safety.

Title: C172 instructor pilot reported an NMAC on approach to LZU when he was passed by a faster aircraft who flew directly over him with about 300 feet of separation.
