Narrative:
First officer loaded kont POM9.gmn.. Into the FMC before requesting a cpdlc clearance. The clearance came back 'cleared route clearance. Free text. POM9.gmn. Free text climb via SID exc maintenance 14000FT.' the first officer noticed a load prompt; and noticed the new route had 'direct gmn direct rgood rgood'. Because we were now confused; we called clearance to see if we were now filed direct to gmn; but they cleared up our confusion that we were still on the POM9.gmn.

Title: Air carrier Captain reported that a Controller Pilot Data Link Communication clearance load function caused the previously loaded SID to be deleted. This necessitated calling Clearance Delivery directly to sort out the confusion.
Narrative: FO loaded KONT POM9.GMN.. into the FMC before requesting a CPDLC clearance. The clearance came back 'Cleared Route Clearance. Free Text. POM9.GMN. Free Text CLB VIA SID EXC MAINT 14000FT.'
