Narrative:
I descended an IFR arrival landing to sdl to 7000 feet. The pilot read back the correct altitude but descended to 6000 feet which was below the minimum vectoring altitude. I was training at the time and both my trainer and I believe the pilot messed up. When I asked the pilot about it he said he had the airport in sight; so I cleared him for a visual approach.
