Narrative:
We landed on 1C at iad; cleared the runway; transitioned to taxiway Z; made a left on C to make a right and cut around to park at [our gate]; which is at the far end of the terminal. There is no straight path to do that; and I had to taxi around a small area with yellow and black hashmarks in order to then come left and get onto the yellow line leading into the gate. I mentioned to my first officer that it was a weird little area to taxi around; but nothing seemed amiss. We had a wing walker and guide man; and no one said anything or indicated that we had exited the ramp area. 3 hours later; a flight manager called me at home to say I had taken out a couple taxi lights and some of the right truck tires were flat.
