Narrative:

While setting up for a practice ILS approach I received several ATC vectors in order that a larger and faster bizjet be permitted to land ahead of me. I had no problem with this and understood the situation. Approach gave me 2 more vectors to get established, both of which I understood and executed properly. I was calm, cool and collected at this point. The problem: not having the normal approach sequence for landing, i.e., 45 degree to the downwind, downwind, base and final as I ordinarily do when flying VFR (99% of my flying), the 'gumps' checklist was overlooked. Up until reaching the final approach fix, all was ok -- but downhill from here on in. Not having the gear down gave me a higher approach airspeed than normal. I was on the localizer, but high on the glide slope. Continued to work on altitude with throttle full back, which generates a beeping noise when under 12 or 13 mp. As I approached the numbers and airspeed was decreasing, the gear up warning horn started beeping in concert with the low mp setting horn. The gear up horn was somewhat muted with my headset on and was an uncommon sound. Probably only heard this once or twice before. This did not register in the confusion. Crunch!! I instantly knew what had happened but just rode it out to a full stop. I shut off the fuel, called the tower to close the runway, shut off the master and exited the plane.

Title: SMA PLT MAKING UNUSUAL APCH DUE TO VECTORS FOR OTHER TRAFFIC, LANDS GEAR UP.

Narrative: WHILE SETTING UP FOR A PRACTICE ILS APCH I RECEIVED SEVERAL ATC VECTORS IN ORDER THAT A LARGER AND FASTER BIZJET BE PERMITTED TO LAND AHEAD OF ME. I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THIS AND UNDERSTOOD THE SITUATION. APCH GAVE ME 2 MORE VECTORS TO GET ESTABLISHED, BOTH OF WHICH I UNDERSTOOD AND EXECUTED PROPERLY. I WAS CALM, COOL AND COLLECTED AT THIS POINT. THE PROBLEM: NOT HAVING THE NORMAL APCH SEQUENCE FOR LNDG, I.E., 45 DEG TO THE DOWNWIND, DOWNWIND, BASE AND FINAL AS I ORDINARILY DO WHEN FLYING VFR (99% OF MY FLYING), THE 'GUMPS' CHECKLIST WAS OVERLOOKED. UP UNTIL REACHING THE FINAL APCH FIX, ALL WAS OK -- BUT DOWNHILL FROM HERE ON IN. NOT HAVING THE GEAR DOWN GAVE ME A HIGHER APCH AIRSPEED THAN NORMAL. I WAS ON THE LOC, BUT HIGH ON THE GLIDE SLOPE. CONTINUED TO WORK ON ALT WITH THROTTLE FULL BACK, WHICH GENERATES A BEEPING NOISE WHEN UNDER 12 OR 13 MP. AS I APCHED THE NUMBERS AND AIRSPEED WAS DECREASING, THE GEAR UP WARNING HORN STARTED BEEPING IN CONCERT WITH THE LOW MP SETTING HORN. I SHUT OFF THE FUEL, CALLED THE TWR TO CLOSE THE RWY, SHUT OFF THE MASTER AND EXITED THE PLANE.
