Narrative:
Aircraft X was descending into apa via the puffr STAR runway 17L transition. Den tower accepted the point-out through their airspace. Den tower launched aircraft Y west on the connr SID. Aircraft X and aircraft Y were on converging courses and were going to lose separation. I had a feeling this was going to happen so I stopped aircraft X at 11;000 to maintain separation. Had I not done this; the two aircraft would have merged and it could have been tragic.the puffr STAR is going away with metroplex changes. I recommend that we cease using this STAR immediately. I have seen eight to ten losses or near losses with this procedure in the last three years. We do not need to run satellite airplanes through den tower's airspace. We need to do something before we have a tragedy.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: Denver TRACON Controller reported of a SID that is going away with metroplex; but recommends it goes away sooner. He has seen eight to ten losses of separation with the SID and arrivals into the Denver area.
