Narrative:

After pushing back; ATC instructed us to taxi to runway 16R via papa and cleared to cross runway 10/28. As I was taxiing out; my jeppesen app crashed on runway 10 just prior to taxiways P and B splitting. I almost turned onto taxiway B instead of taxiway papa due to this distraction. The first officer saw what I was doing and corrected me; we never got onto taxiway B and continued on papa to runway 16R as instructed. Because of the distraction I forgot to call for the delayed engine start checklist. Tower told us that we were cleared for takeoff and as we were taxiing onto runway 16R I realized that the engine #1 had never been started; I told the first officer and he contacted ATC to tell them we had to taxi back off the active runway due to a situation that arose. We proceeded to taxi off at mike and hold short of taxiway papa as instructed by ATC. We were trying to figure out a way as to not alarm the passengers so we decided to shut down engine #2 and then restart them both.because we were frazzled and embarrassed; before we shutdown engine #2 we did not start the APU and when we realized that and tried to start the APU with just battery; the APU would not start. The first officer then pointed out that the batteries had dropped down to 20.0 volts and if we continued we would go below the 19V limitation. We decided to shut it down and call dispatch to let operations know that we need to get towed in and also let tower know we had no way of communicating with them. Once we got to the gate we got the gpu hooked up; I started the APU immediately and started charging the batteries. I made an announcement to the passengers that we had done a reset and as soon as we got done performing our safety checks we would be on our way. We started the engines after pushback and taxied out and took off with no further incident.my efb resetting led me to be distracted with the taxi instructions and almost resulted in me taking taxiway B instead of taxiway P. Both of these distractions disrupted a normal rhythm and led me to not calling for the delayed engine start checklist. Make sure that I'm more vigilant when it comes to letting distractions affect my performance and safety. I should've stopped the airplane and waited for the efb to reset instead of continuing taxing. I will make sure that from now on there is no reason for me to hurry when things happen and that time constraints are of little concern when it comes to safety.

Title: Air carrier flight crew reported distractions and confusion led to procedural errors that resulted in both engines being shut down on the taxiway without the APU running.
