Narrative:
On climbout from fxe center issued a new heading and altitude. The non flying pilot read back the clearance of 11000' and set 11000' in the altitude alerter. As I was leveling the aircraft at 11000', center asked our altitude. The non flying pilot responded that we were leveling 11000'. The controller said that we were assigned 10000' but continue to climb to 12000'. Non flying pilot acknowledged 12000' and said that he had read back 11000' in his first response to center. Center then said, 'ok, climb to 16000'.' non flying pilot acknowledged 16000'.
