Narrative:
The airplane was being towed from [the FBO] to the private hangar. After the tug (tractor) began to move down the ramp; I started to walk the approximately 150 yards north to the private hangar. I was walking against the multiple hangar's doors in the shade on the east side of the ramp. About half way down the ramp I looked up towards the tug and airplane. The airplane was facing west; nose towards the runway with the tow-bar attached. The tug was next to the main cabin door. I noticed that the airplane was free rolling forward and slightly left and the tug operator was between the plane and tug. I began to sprint toward the plane. I jumped in between the tug and wing and began to push on the wing in an attempt to stop the airplane. The tug operator moved the tug and chocked the front tire while I held the plane. I saw the dent on the left leading edge and brought it to the captain's attention.
