Narrative:
While taxiing for takeoff on runway 07 at rpj; I heard an announcement 'jumpers away...' I believe the pilot said 4000 or 5000 feet above rpj. This is an airport with known parachute activity. When I got to the end of runway 07 I heard a radio call indicating the jump plane was landing in the grass parallel to runway 07. After landing; the plane taxied across runway 07 to the ramp. I observed no traffic on the takeoff path and commenced takeoff. After liftoff; at about 100-200 ft agl; off to my left; maybe 500-1000 feet away I observed a parachute. I immediately started a turn to the right to avoid any possible traffic conflict.about 2 minutes later on CTAF (unicom) I was called by someone on the ground in the parachute operation that the jumpers were not happy about the occurrence. Neither was I. I took off in the belief that if I departed immediately after the jump plane landed there would be no problem. The jump plane was definitely aware of my presence as I had told him it was ok to cross runway 07 further down on CTAF. I have never been involved in flight during active parachute activity. Flying with a high wing aircraft could have been part of the problem as cockpit visibility is somewhat limited. In the future; if I ever go back to rpj with active parachute activity; I will ask the parachute group to an 'all clear' prior to commencing takeoff on CTAF.
