Narrative:
Given clearance to taxi runway 21 at chs as a formation of 2 mlt Y aircraft were going to depart runway 15. After their departure we were given clearance for an immediate departure as another mlt was on final for runway 21. We made a rolling takeoff, and on the roll tower asked if we saw the formation off our left, currently on a south heading. We were told to maintain visibility, but were not told they were making a right turn into us for a northwest departure. We made an immediate right turn inside the formation, but as they were at approximately 2000' MSL (our assigned altitude) we passed approximately 1-2 mi as we climbed to our new altitude of 4000' and assigned heading of 330 degrees. Had we been informed that the formation was going to turn across our departure path we would have refused the takeoff clearance or later would have made a left turn to pass behind the formation. No abnormal action was taken, other than the immediate right 25 degree bank turn to stay inside their track. It would have helped if tower would have told the formation to fly a westerly heading to give us the room to increase sep.

Title: 2 MLT Y FORMATION CROSSES PATH OF ACR MLG X. MLT'S AND MLG X DEPARTING CHS.
Narrative: GIVEN CLRNC TO TAXI RWY 21 AT CHS AS A FORMATION OF 2 MLT Y ACFT WERE GOING TO DEPART RWY 15. AFTER THEIR DEP WE WERE GIVEN CLRNC FOR AN IMMEDIATE DEP AS ANOTHER MLT WAS ON FINAL FOR RWY 21. WE MADE A ROLLING TKOF, AND ON THE ROLL TWR ASKED IF WE SAW THE FORMATION OFF OUR LEFT, CURRENTLY ON A S HDG. WE WERE TOLD TO MAINTAIN VIS, BUT WERE NOT TOLD THEY WERE MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO US FOR A NW DEP. WE MADE AN IMMEDIATE RIGHT TURN INSIDE THE FORMATION, BUT AS THEY WERE AT APPROX 2000' MSL (OUR ASSIGNED ALT) WE PASSED APPROX 1-2 MI AS WE CLBED TO OUR NEW ALT OF 4000' AND ASSIGNED HDG OF 330 DEGS. HAD WE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE FORMATION WAS GOING TO TURN ACROSS OUR DEP PATH WE WOULD HAVE REFUSED THE TKOF CLRNC OR LATER WOULD HAVE MADE A LEFT TURN TO PASS BEHIND THE FORMATION. NO ABNORMAL ACTION WAS TAKEN, OTHER THAN THE IMMEDIATE RIGHT 25 DEG BANK TURN TO STAY INSIDE THEIR TRACK. IT WOULD HAVE HELPED IF TWR WOULD HAVE TOLD THE FORMATION TO FLY A WESTERLY HDG TO GIVE US THE ROOM TO INCREASE SEP.
