Narrative:

I was flying into reading and both times they tried to vector me into the mountain. The story is that they can vector me below the minimum vectoring altitude (MVA) because I was VFR. It was bumpy and there was a lot of thermals. I refused to take their vector. They could have given me a vector across the airport but instead they vectored me into the mountain when I was at a low altitude. Even if the faah 7110.65 says that you can be vectored below the MVA if they don't give you a hard altitude what would they say on the witness stand if I lost an engine?
