Narrative:

Immediately after encountering severe rime ice and turbulence, I asked center for a lower altitude. Approximately 30 seconds later a rate of descent of 3000 FPM was arrested at 500' below the assigned altitude. I did call out of the assigned altitude to inform ATC. ATC then cleared me to 5000'.

Narrative: IMMEDIATELY AFTER ENCOUNTERING SEVERE RIME ICE AND TURB, I ASKED CENTER FOR A LOWER ALT. APPROX 30 SECS LATER A RATE OF DSCNT OF 3000 FPM WAS ARRESTED AT 500' BELOW THE ASSIGNED ALT. I DID CALL OUT OF THE ASSIGNED ALT TO INFORM ATC. ATC THEN CLRED ME TO 5000'.
