Narrative:
Holding short of runway 31R, we were told by tower, 'taxi into position and hold. On departure, turn right 090 degrees.' as we were taxiing across the hold line, the tower tried to call us, I think, but was blocked on the frequency. We caught the tail end of the transmission: '...hold short or taxi across the runway!' we taxied across and saw a widebody transport on very short final. The controller didn't mention a violation and I don't feel we were in error; however, since it was a busy hour there, he may not have had the time. Supplemental information from acn 140547: controller said what the crew believed to be, 'taxi into position, after takeoff fly 090 degrees.' reasons for concern: garbled nature of instructions, which the crew may have misunderstood for clearance to taxi into position.

Title: LTT TAXIES ONTO RWY WITHOUT CLRNC IN THE FACE OF A WDB ON CLOSE FINAL.
Narrative: HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 31R, WE WERE TOLD BY TWR, 'TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD. ON DEP, TURN RIGHT 090 DEGS.' AS WE WERE TAXIING ACROSS THE HOLD LINE, THE TWR TRIED TO CALL US, I THINK, BUT WAS BLOCKED ON THE FREQ. WE CAUGHT THE TAIL END OF THE XMISSION: '...HOLD SHORT OR TAXI ACROSS THE RWY!' WE TAXIED ACROSS AND SAW A WDB ON VERY SHORT FINAL. THE CTLR DIDN'T MENTION A VIOLATION AND I DON'T FEEL WE WERE IN ERROR; HOWEVER, SINCE IT WAS A BUSY HOUR THERE, HE MAY NOT HAVE HAD THE TIME. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 140547: CTLR SAID WHAT THE CREW BELIEVED TO BE, 'TAXI INTO POS, AFTER TKOF FLY 090 DEGS.' REASONS FOR CONCERN: GARBLED NATURE OF INSTRUCTIONS, WHICH THE CREW MAY HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD FOR CLRNC TO TAXI INTO POS.
