Narrative:

Preflight and engine run-up showed no sign of impending engine failure. Takeoff roll normal, rotation and lift-off normal. 300' airborne, past departure end of runway 6, left engine lost power as evidenced by extreme yaw to left. Standard single engine procedure employed; left engine propeller feathered and engine secured. Aircraft configured for single engine operation, climb continued to safe altitude, ful tower advised of problem, no emergency declared. Unable to restart left engine. Oil observed flowing over top of wing. Left engine secured per emergency procedures in pilot handbook. Single engine landing runway 6 ful completed west/O further incident. Inspection (visibility) revealed internal failure of left engine, breaking the left engine in half, and the cam broken and exposed through the missing pieces of the engine block. Good flight training and single engine procedures made this event safer and not a tragedy. Tower personnel calmness assisted in the professional attitude and helped reassure the correct outcome of the situation. Tanks to all my flight instrs.
